Is your care holistic? Do you use integrative or functional medicine?

Dr. Ash is an MD who blends internal medicine with root-cause thinking and integrative tools — always grounded in what works.

Many people ask whether Fishtown Medicine is “holistic” — or whether Dr. Ash is a DO. He’s not. He’s a board-certified MD in internal medicine with a care philosophy that pulls intentionally from broader frameworks, including integrative and functional care.

His approach is grounded in:

  • Getting to the root cause

  • Looking at your full context — not just your labs

  • Prevention and early intervention

  • Practical, personalized, purpose-driven care

Dr. Ash uses tools and principles that support whole-person care, including:

  • Systems-focused labs

  • Lifestyle mapping (sleep, movement, stress, nutrition)

  • Supplement strategy and wearables when useful

  • Data from genomics, CGMs, or other self-tracking tools

What we don’t do:

  • No trend-chasing or unnecessary testing

  • No isolated symptom chasing

  • No protocol-first care that ignores your lived experience

This model is holistic not because it’s “alternative,” but because it’s real — deeply personal, context-aware, and focused on helping you function and feel better in your everyday life.

At Fishtown Medicine, you’re not treated as a diagnosis. You’re seen as a whole person. That’s the work.
